Foot bath detox systems are one of the more controversial of the health treatment which have sprung up in recent years, as a response to the polluted environment in which we are all forced to live. Dieting and health have always been big business, and fasting and detoxification have always been part of it, but now that the mass media are actively promoting these strategies as a way to improve health, they are becoming increasingly popular with mainstream society.
The main problem has occurred because of the public's demand for instant solutions, which the media knows it has to try and satisfy. Bodily health, however, is not something which will respond to attempts for an instant solution, but something which needs to be built up over time. The penchant of the media for promoting fad diets has led to a discrediting of the entire idea of fasting and detox, which is unfortunate as they form a very valid part of the quest for health.
Other external treatments such as the foot pad detox have come in for even greater criticism, and there are many who claim to have proven beyond doubt that the entire concept is just a gimmick and has no therapeutic effect. Certainly, there have been no scientific studies carried out which demonstrate conclusively that the system is effective. The most important consideration of all is to realize that any of these short term tactics can only have any effect as part of an overall program designed to bring you optimum health.
It is a big mistake to think that just because you are carrying out a detox program on your body every now and then, whether through diet or through an external method such as feet detox, that you can forget about the toxins in the diet you habitually eat. If you are thinking that you can afford to eat anything you like because the detox will “get rid of all the bad stuff”, then you are effectively fighting yourself. The results you are looking for are simply not going to happen.
Whether or not ionic foot detox has any lasting benefit has not yet been proven, and it seems highly probable that it does not. However, if you want to try it, go ahead as long as you make sure you use it safely. Even if the impact is only psychological, it can still be very real. The key is to make sure that you overhaul your entire lifestyle and build up your health using proven long term techniques, rather than relying exclusively on short term solutions such as foot bath detox.
